DIA de los MUERTOS
Ever since that first time I played Grim Fandango (sidenote: Lucas Arts in my heart forever!), I've loved the Day of the Dead aesthetic. So come Halloween markets & workshops I take every opportunity to roll out colourful & patterned skulls, skeletons & ghosts.
PIMPING MY POTS
I just can't help it, I paint on everything. And plant pots are so booring. So my solution, pimping my pots! Now, they start looking more like me.
Playing around with spray paint & ink/pens. Colours & monochrome. Working on not having to get everything 'perfect', which is surprisingly hard.
My friend, who is a kickass & super engaged school counselor told me about these strength cards she wanted to use as a tool when working with her children. As she couldn't find anything suitable in Swedish she commissioned me to make some for her.
So, after having first learnt what these strength cards were, I created these robot (none gender specific, clever aye) ones for her to laminate & cut. It was SO MUCH FUN coming up with these as she suggested some positive qualities & then just gave me free hands.
The Green Edition.
(I know, I know, more flowers & such. I really ought to get out of this plant phase).
FLOWERS IN CARTOON
Oh Posca Pens, how I love thee.
My unicorns ended up looking like 3/4 moomins, and thus the great Moomicorn was born!
IN THE PINK
Flowers - Pink Edition
Berries & fruits, marker pens & nail polish!
MAKING UP ARTIST
Playing around with nail polish, eyeshadow, glitter glue & marker pens. It's so much fun layering, adding, diluting, mixing & experimenting to see what works & what makes something pop.
LONGING FOR SPRING
A flower a day (that will always be in bloom & never wilt) to stave off the worst of the longing for spring.
Peculiar birds painted on stones collected from various beaches are now nesting in my plants.
Painting with berries & fruit & black & white acrylics.
PLAYING WITH CRAYONS
Played around with oil pastel crayons & water colours.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2018
My sister-in-law, who is a teacher, needed an outfit for World Book Day. SoI came up with a Winnie the Pooh-themed concept & made this from a white t-shirt, fabric paint & polymer clay.
HOMEMADE WRAPPING PAPER
My own wrapping paper came about purely in an attempt to justify my love for making hundreds of lino cut stamps.
Somehow my attempts to do traditional landscapes always seem to take a different route & the just end up as "Dreamscapes".
Friends, family, commissions.
I created these under the open topic to depict environmental awareness. As my subject I chose to focus on the aftermath of some of the horrific man made (natural) disasters. I purposefully chose to do dichotomous & kitschy mixed media collages.
